In Greene County district court Tracy Alan Brown, 47, of Boone was sentenced Feb. 14 after he pleaded guilty to a charge of theft-third degree and entered an Alford plea to a charge of domestic abuse assault-aggravated. (In entering an Alford plea a defendant does not admit committing the crime, but believes that given the facts in the county attorney’s information, a jury would find him guilty of the crime.) On each of the charges, Brown was sentenced to two years in prison, with the prison terms to be concurrent. He was also fined $625 with a $218.75 surcharge. He must also pay a $125 Law Enforcement Initiative (LEI) surcharge on the theft charge, and restitution to be determined on the domestic abuse charge. He must pay $1,200 restitution for his court appointed attorney’s fees and court costs totaling $883.50 (Sentencing: Honorable Adria A. Kester)
Christopher Brian Quirk, 31, of Jefferson was sentenced Feb. 10 after changing his plea to guilty to three counts of forgery. On two counts, he was sentenced to five years in prison and fined $750 with a $262.50 surcharge. On the third count he was sentenced to two years in prison with a $625 fine and a $218.75 surcharge. The prison terms are to be concurrent. The fines and surcharges were suspended, but Quirk must pay a $125 LEI on each count, as well as $180 court costs. Quirk was originally charged with theft-second degree, burglary-third degree (class D felony), burglary-third degree (class D aggravated misdemeanor), six counts of forgery and ongoing criminal conduct. Frederick James Lonsdale, 40, of Jefferson was sentenced Feb. 14 after he pleaded guilty charges of harassment-third degree, amended from harassment-first degree, and criminal mischief-fourth degree. He was sentenced to 15 days in jail on the harassment charge. He was sentenced to one year in jail on the criminal mischief charge. The sentences are to be concurrent. The longer term was suspended and he was placed on probation for one year. Also on the criminal mischief charge he was fined $315 with a $110.15 surcharge and a $125 LEI surcharge. Lonsdale must also pay courts costs and restitution for his court appointed attorney’s fees totaling $317.50. (Sentencing: Kester)
Dacoda Lee Lawrence, 23, of Scranton was sentenced Feb. 14 after he pleaded guilty to a charge of assault-domestic abuse-aggravated. He was sentenced to two years in prison; all but seven days was suspended. He was placed on probation for two years. He was fined $625 with a $218.75 surcharge. He must pay court costs and restitution for his court appointed attorney’s fees totaling $596.50. (Sentencing: Kester)
Persons pleaded not guilty at arraignments Feb. 12 as follows: Angus Foutch, 19, of Grand Junction, domestic abuse assault causing bodily injury; Amanda Rae Rohan, 31, of Jefferson, driving while license barred; Joshua Jay Blumberg, 18, of Grand Junction, criminal mischief-second degree aiding and abetting; Kurtis Bradley Langfitt, 24, of Grand Junction, assault with intent to inflict serious injury; Michael Joseph Hofbauer, 30, of Coon Rapids, serious injury by motor vehicle, operating while intoxicated (OWI)-first offense, and leaving the scene of a personal injury accident; and Nevin Wesley Reed, 22, of Grand Junction, assault-aggravated. Trial dates were set for April 8 in every case.
